Distance: 41.1km (10 hours)
Following the shared trail north from Balgowan, cyclists & walkers head past Tiparra Rocks, The Bamboos and on to The Gap in the first part of this section of Walk The Yorke. There are several camping spots along this stretch of coastline, and it is a great spot to get away from it all.
The Balgowan to Moonta Bay section of Walk The Yorke can be broken down into 4 smaller trails:
- Balgowan to Gap 11.1km (2 hours 46 minutes)
- The Gap to Tippara Springs 5.1km (1 hour 17 minutes)
- Tippara Springs to Coopers Beach Road 15.1km (3 hours 46 minutes)
- Coopers Beach Road to Moonta Bay 9.8m (2 hour 23 minutes)
From The Gap, cyclists follow the established roads to Cape Elizabeth, before continuing on to Moonta Bay.
For walkers, it’s a beach walk the rest of the way. Walkers follow the coastline to Cape Elizabeth and around the point, before heading north to Port Hughes and beyond to Moonta Bay.
